franklin 1 cent 594 ? 596?

    A Scott 594 or Scott 596 is a very expensive stamp. The only way one buys such a stamp is with certification. If you believe it to be either you should submit it to an expertising service. There simply no way to discern that from a post online.

    I fully concur with <Hoch>. The Third Bureau stamps are extremely difficult to identify in many cases. I do know collectors often go wrong with their perforation measurements (11 x 11 as opposed to 11 x 10.5, for example).

    The website www.stampsmarter.com does have some identification books and articles pertaining to these stamps.
