I really like visiting http://usstampgallery.com/ If you just browse around that site for a few minutes you will LOVE some of the stuff you see.
Thanks everybody for the links posted on here, there is a wealth of information for me to go through. I am sure I will find some cheap bargain stamps that I could up sell on ebay.
Are there any good books that you recommend on stamp collecting? I've found a ton of stuff online but there's still something about reading a book that appeals to me =).
Maybe there is a good book recommendation on this thread. http://www.stampexchange.com/thread...d-books-to-read-about-stamps.1174/#post-15381
Thanks for the link. I never knew they did fancy cancels. I used to work at the royal mail as a temp for 3 weeks so I know about the stamp canceling machine. I wonder if the royal mail have any. They are pretty nice designs.
Those who want revenue stamps will enjoy looking/visiting this link. http://1898revenues.blogspot.com/
Well, estate sales seem to be a prime way of finding stamps for your collection these days. A lot of people aren't interested in old stamps so I guess you could get a good deal. Here's a link I found that alerts you when there are nearby estate sales: http://www.estatesales.net/
I am aware of all my nearby estate auctions, but thanks for the link. What people can do once they find the auctioneers is to see if they have email alerts or online catalogues they can sign-up for. Some of them don't post the less expensive items and require an on site visit, this is especially true of some stamp hoards which are often box lots of newer stamps (within the last 50 years).
I am not from the US but definitely this is a very useful link for Americans and those collectors who will be visiting there.
Oh wow, I am into collecting medical stamps! The link that was provided displayed some stamps that I've been wanting to see a clear picture of and haven't been able to find. Thanks!
Here is a nice site. I have linked the first stamps page, but there is a lot more to this site. http://www.coinsusallecollection.com/first_stamps__america.htm
