Hi everyone I've just joined. I'm interested in beginning a collection of engraved stamps. Can anyone tell about US engravers and the particular stamps you're most impressed by? I've heard of Felzer and Hipschen. Any info would be v welcome. I'm in UK, and I don't have access to a specialist US catalogue, either Gibbons , or Scott or Linns. So far I'm sorting through my collections of Scandinavian, French and Austrian stamps - lots of them are engraved. I've also found a couple of forums on the subject. If you could suggest engravers' names and the year and Scott or Gibbons number of the stamp you like, I'd be very grateful. Bye for now!
I unfortunately don't know too much about engraving. It will be interesting to see if anyone can help us here about this. I think it is worth the time and money.
The website" 1847usa" does give names of designers and engravers for definitives but I dont think it has info on commeratives
I do not know too much about engraved stamps. However, I do like the idea. It seems like they would be great for collectors especially.
I do not know of any engraved stamps, but the idea of it sounds nice. I think that engraved stamps would do wonderfully with stamp collectors.
