Does anyone in your family also collect stamps?

For me it's Mum and Grandma that got me into stamp collecting. Mum gave me her stamp albums a long time ago, and told me to "pass the tradition on". Well, if I'll have any children (low chances as I love living alone) I will pass on stamp collecting.

What about you? Does anybody in your family also collect stamps?

No one else but me too.
They are not even interested in my collection.

The solitary consensus seems to be alone alas.

So far as I know, it's just me. Certainly not my wife or kids, though I show off my collection to them sometimes if I can corner them and get there attention for more than a millisecond...lol.

:D I can understand how hard it is to make them interested or be involved on it.
Also their common question is what's interesting about it. :p

I don't know anyone in real life who collects stamps. I just found out about it online and got a bit excited about it. The rest is history. Ahh well...I don't mind being the oddball.

Heh, in my country, back in the 2000's, there was a trend with stamp collecting. Well, most people did it only to look cool, but I've still kept this as one of my main passions.

That was the same situation here. I am just happy there is a community like this where people with same interests can talk about stamps. :D

Yeah, I guess these forums are a "blessing" for us all. I spend a good amount of time daily here.

That's always crazy when people do something to be "cool" but then fizzle out of it so quickly. It shows that they weren't really interested in it in the first place and just did it to fit in, which is totally lame in my opinion.

My grandfather collected stamps, coins, and a lot of other things. He was actually a bit of a hoarder. I have a bunch of stamps that came from his collection, many of which I've posted pics of.

It's kind of sad that your grandfather was a hoarder, because that can definitely get out of control. It's nice that he had things to share with you, though. I'll bet you might not have been as interested in stamps, coins, etc. if he had not shared them with you

I spend WAAAAAAAAYYYYY too many hours doing my collections also, and yes to the passions in doing so!!

Good luck to all of us that like what we do... I have no one to pass down to either. SOMEBODY will be lucky when I finally roll over...

I used to collect stamps when I was a kid, when I was about 7-8 years old. I got interested because my cousin had an extensive collection of stamps from different countries. I just love stamp designs and colors. It's sad that I took for granted my collection. I can't locate them anymore. I think it's gone or completely lost.

I still hope you can find your collection someday. :)
