View attachment 17 So as not to hi-jack a thread meant for stamps, here is a place to post some cover.
Last day cancel is cover that is cancelled on the last day of a discontinued post office. Sometimes it is by request, like a 'first day cover', sometimes it is by coincidence. This one was by request, and the Postmaster made some remarks on the postcard. Some people collect cover from DPOs (discontinued post offices), this would probably be a branch of that... I collect cover in general, so DPO, FDC, or 'Crash Cover', it's all the same to me. Just icing on the cake.
I moved my 'Crash Cover' here from the stamp pics thread: Addressed to my Grandfather, and recovered from a plane crash into Pensacola Bay in 1978. The plane overshot the airport on landing and ended up in about 15' of brackish water. 3 lives lost. View attachment 22 View attachment 23

Here is just a few I had on my drive. I have a ton of old covers. Some of these are newer but relevant. Ad postal card The very first letter I ever mailed. I sent it to my Great Grandmother's house photos of covers (before I learned my scanner) I got this in the mail as part of an offer for these. I would never pay for these! lol
