That First Flying Mail Car print nicely compliment the stamps on covers.

That's a benefit to stamp collecting: learning about new countries, cultures, etc. It's all good!

Those FDC's look great! Good looking prints, cancels and amazing stamps on it. :)

    Here is a cover from 1896, with a 1 cent Columbus stamp #230 on a 1 cent U348
    Postal envelope.

    desertgem:

Nice commercial cover with a clear postmark too. Judging by the date stamp to the right of the addressee it took two days to be delivered.

  7. I agree with Hochtarese. These kind of covers seem to be a rarity these. I am not sure how that happened.

Great covers Desertgem! I especially like the cover with the old car/new car stamps with the steering wheel cancels. It's really a beauty!

Well, this is sort of a cover...

I guess the VFW ran out of BREs, or they don't use them. This is nicer anyway.

Interesting markings on this one, "held for postage" stamping.

Yes, interesting cancels as well as the motive of putting the stamps that way. :p

Curious about the rate on that letter. It looks like someone posted it with a 2 cent vermillion which was 1 cent too little for postage, but then rather than additional postage of 1 cent for domestic 3 cent , it is 3 cent for a 5 cent which was the foreign rate at the time?

You are correct that the domestic letter rate for a New York state to New York state delivery was 3c at the time. I can only surmise that the letter was returned to sender and the sender resent it with a 3c stamp. It was after all returned to a P.O. Box and could easily have that one day turn around that the date stamps indicate.
