I am posting this series of nice kimono stamps, fully aware that Werner may say that they are not really stamps( I couldnt find them in Scott catalogue)
Milan, I would not know ! Once upon a time there was a Michel-cat.(Asien Band 5 II) for Ajman and a number of other obscure stamp-issuing countries. I don“t know if this ever was re-issued in later years. Probably Minkus-cat.also listed Ajman. I just had a look at my "Stamps of the World" by Stanley Gibbons, 1992 edition. There is an appendix listing Ajman 1967-1972 briefly. I could not find the "beautiful kimonos" there. But there are so many issues, that I may have missed them. Interesting is a note at the end of the appendix. It reads: Many other issues were released between 1 September 1971 and 1 August 1972,but their authenticity has been denied by the Ajman postmaster general... ...Further stamps inscribed "Ajman" issued after that date - (Aug.1st, 1972,the day Ajman became part of the U.A.E. and issued no more stamps) - were released without authority and had no validity.
Hello all, this set of uniforms from the British Indian Ocean Territory (British Battles Set) Date of Issue: 2010-09-30 The Battles depicted are: The Battle of Hastings was fought on 14 October 1066 between the Norman-French army of William Duke of Normandy, and an English army under the Anglo-Saxon King Harold Godwinson. Harold was killed during the battle and William was crowned king on Christmas Day 1066 __________________ The Battle of Agincourt was a major English victory in the Hundred Years' War. The battle took place on Friday, 25 October 1415 (Saint Crispin's Day). Henry V's victory at Agincourt, against a numerically superior French army, crippled France and started a new period in the war during which Henry V married the French king's daughter, and their son, later Henry VI of England and Henry II of France, was made heir to the throne of France as well as of England. This battle is notable for the use of the English longbow in very large numbers, with the English and Welsh archers forming up to 80 percent of Henry's army. ______________________ The Battle of Bosworth Field was the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses, the civil war between the Houses of Lancaster and York that raged across England in the latter half of the 15th century. Fought on 22 August 1485, the battle was won by the Lancastrians. Their leader Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond, by his victory became the first English monarch of the Tudor dynasty. His opponent, Richard III, the last king of the House of York, was killed in the battle. Historians consider Bosworth Field to mark the end of the Plantagenet dynasty, making it a defining moment of English and Welsh history. _____________________ The Battle of Naseby was a decisive engagement of the English Civil War, fought on 14 June 1645 between the main Royalist army of King Charles I. and the Parliamentarian New Model Army, commanded by Sir Thomas Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell. It was fought near the village of Naseby in Northamptonshire. Regards, James.
