    The Bicycle Thieves.

It recalls for me a skit on the old TV Show of Shows. Carl Reiner and Sid Caesar are arguing over an apparently stolen bicycle. The genius of the skit was the 'pidgin Italian' they spoke - just enough English interspersed to follow the dialogue. Speak, memory.

    Bob,
first of all Merry Christmas to you and all the others of this forum !

The pair of Irish stamps need some deeper understanding and knowledge
    of German.
I was not aware that one stamp shows a horse. But thought it was a donkey.
In German there is a kind of affectionate nickname for bycycles: "Draht-Esel".
(Draht = wire, Esel = donkey) You will find "Draht-Esel" or "Drahtesel" in all
    better dictionaries.
I thought the pair showed the evolution of transport in history.

Werner....thanks for adding to my limited knowledge of German. However, that is definitely a horse pictured on the stamp. As far as I know, they don,t have donkey jumping at the Olympics....

Closest I can find to a horse on a bicycle stamp.
This is a 1991 issue from Eire, depicting early bicycles .
I doubt that it would go very fast...only 1 HP........... 1991 horse tricycle.jpg

    A Christmas themed item....Father Christmas on a bicycle...Rudolph was unavailable:kiss::kiss:
I am not familiar with US stamps and not sure if this was issued or not.Looks to me like a personalised self-adhesive stamp.
Happy Christmas to everyone.... Santa on a bike.jpg

Apparently one can make their own postage stamps with tools such as Zazzle. They are legitimate for postage use. Frankly, I am surprised more companies don't use them - seems would be a nice marketing gimmick. On the other hand, few companies use stamps today.:(

A 1972 issue from France, overprinted for use in Reunion.
From 1949 to 1975,Reunion used French stamps with a surcharge in CFA francs overprinted on the stamps. All stamps were withdrawn from January 1975 when the CFA franc was replaced by the French Metropolitan franc and unsurcharged stamps from France were used. bike stamp.jpg
