On June 19th,1970 several earliar stamps were overprinted to convert them to the inland letter-mail rate of 20 Chetrum. These were all high-value reminders, what were not much needed for inland mail. (part I of 4)
I think the reason for that is quite simple: The commemoratives were meant for export (sale) abroad, mainly North-America and Europe (and later to Japan). So they cater to the taste of these customers. Not bad if they stayed with motives of Bhutan. But others can be somewhat of a rather poor taste.Worst to me are the Disney-issues of the 1980th. By the way, those early definitives are well sought after. And because of that relatively expensive. (in comparison to their face-values)
Another set of overprints to "recycle" not needed high values. Set of 23 values, issued Nov.2nd,1970. (part I of 2) I own only the ones I show.To find the missing ones is pratically not possible, unless a complete set will come around.Even that would mean a lot of good luck to make it happen.
Of this set, issued Nov.17th,1970,honouring the Apollo XIII mission, I have the souvenir sheets only. They contain all stamps of the set.As neither the set or the s.s. are that cheap,I´ll pass on the set, till one at a very good price should come along. (part I of 3)
(part III of 3) According to Michel-cat. the motives of this set are not much related to the Apollo XIII mission: 2 Ch. Illustration from "From Earth to the Moon" by Jules Verne (1865) 5 Ch. V2 (V = Vergeltungswaffe = revenge-weapon),W.W.II,Germany, the first ballistic rocket. 15 Ch. Vostok I (Russia 1962) 25 Ch. Mariner II (USA 1962) 30 Ch. Gemini VII (USA 1965) 50 Ch. Starting rocket 75 Ch. Man in space 1.50 Nu. Apollo XIII (!) 2 Nu. Earth seen from the Moon 3 Nu. Spiral-Galaxy 6 Nu. Earth,Sun,Mars and Jupiter seen from the Moon 7 Nu. Space-station (fantasy)
On Feb.27th,1971 four definitives, all of the same design, were issued. Hopefully I will find this set and can show it later. An outright silly issue follows: Sculptures of different epoches, issued Feb.27th,1971. Silly, because they are made up by embossed plastic-foil,what makes them so thick, that they do not fit in any form of stock-books or albums. I´ll show the s.s. only.I am not sure wether I own the singles also,as they will be in some box somewhere. (part I of 2)
