My last page of Polish stamps depicting aircraft. There are many more from Poland, but I haven't kept my acquisition of them up to date. Maybe, I can catch up someday. Don
The first page of my Aircraft on Stamps from Germany. Some of these Werner has posted on his Stamps of the Third Reich series, but this page adds identification to the aircraft. Don
My last page of German stamps depicting aircraft. Again, I have not kept this collection up to date. Too many stamps to buy! Not enough money. The Lilienthal glider stamp is missing because it was issued as a semi-postal souvenir sheet and I have not been able to find one separated from the sheet. I guess I'll just have to give up and buy the sheet and separate the stamp. Don
Don“t know, whether this stamp was shown earliar on this thread. But it is so good-looking,that it does not matter. Issued March 3rd,2005.
Werner: It is, indeed, a a very handsome stamp showing an iconic and historic airplane, the Lockheed Constellation. The image looks like a Super Constellation which entered commercial service in 1951. The Constellation was a pre-WW II design (1939) and would have been used by the airlines in the early 1940s had the U.S. not entered WW II. I rode in a Constellation from Los Angeles to Kansas City, MO., in 1956 on my first leave from the USMC. Don
I don't have a collection of aircraft stamps from The Gambia, but I did acquire a nice looking set of British WW II aircraft stamps issued by Gambia in 1990. They are mounted on two pages below: Don
Here's a Gambia souvenir sheet depicting aircraft. Note the bottom right stamp with the image of a Curtiss Condor twin engine biplane. I don't remember seeing a Curtiss Condor on any other stamp. The Condor was Curtiss' attempt to enter the commercial airliner market in the early 1930s. It had the distinction of being the first airline to offer night-sleeping accommodations for passengers. The Condor was sold in two versions, the daytime Condor which carried 15 passengers and the nighttime model that had six sleeper compartments. Don
The aircraft on the bottom stamp looks like an Ilyushin ll-14, a Russian design first flown in 1953. Many sold to eastern block countries and China. Don
Cambodia has issued a surprising number of aircraft stamps. I suppose it hoped to capture a portion of the topical market. Worked with me! I bought them without hesitation. Here's a page featuring commercial jet aircraft. Don
After a long break, I am visiting this thread. Embossed and partially UV coated Aircrafts from Thailand. Issued in 2010.
