1c Franklin Type IV?

    I am having a hard time trying to find out what type this Franklin is. Doesn't help the top has been lopped off! Any ideas? With the scrolls on the bottom as they are, am I seeing this correctly as a type IV? I appreciate any help!

    I believe you are correct. It looks like a Scott #9 to me. Here is a nice site showing the differences in the 1851 1c stamp.
