    Fellow philatelists,

I'm laying out a worldwide International Cooperation Year (ICY) album and I have a question on the Gibraltar omnibus issue. My Scott catalog, Stamp World, and Colnect all state the two values as ½d (Scott 169, SG182) and 4d (Scott 170, SG183). However, that would mean that the colors are reversed for this country only!

The lower value of the pair for each participating country is greenish blue & claret, with the higher value being light violet & green. Why should Gibraltar be reversed?

Not only that, but comparing the ½d on the Gibraltar stamp and the ½d on the Bahamas issue or the ½c Basutoland issue shows the design to be completely different.

My theory is the Gibraltar ½d is actually 1 shilling and 2 pence, which would be written as 1/2d, e.g. similar to the Pitcairn Islands 1 shilling and 6 pence value (1/6d):

Thoughts? Does anyone have a SG catalog that they could kindly check for me?

Much thanks for all your contributions!

Aha! Thanks very much Werner! It's odd that they reversed the colors for that country only... Makes one wonder if they messed up?

Was going to send the same info and noticed Werner beat me to it....:chicken::chicken::chicken:
Usually , it is written as described in Gibbons ..
I don,t think there has ever been a stamp with a value of 1 shilling 2d
