I finally got my hands on a pair of 4¢ "Indian hunting Buffalo" Trans-Mississippi Exposition stamp. (Watermarked 191/perf 12) I got them on eBay on 2 different auctions although I only officially won the one but someone must have backed out or something because I got an email to the effect that I was the winner despite it all! lol It's happened before so no funny business. I got them both for a REALLY great deal. So I can live with the centering and the hinge remnant on the one. What do you think?

You really think so? Lately I been getting grief for buying "sub-par specimens" quite frequently lately for whatever reason? The commenters on the other board must have deep pockets (or at least deeper than mine)! ha ha!

I wouldnt worry about others. As long as you are happy, thats what counts. Not all my stamps are perfect, but I love them. :D

Thank you for the vote of confidence friend! That's how I feel too. I originally just wanted to fill as many gaps as possible as cost effective as possible but realized that I wasn't doing my collection or myself any justice so now I only buy absolutely sound and with Fine or better centering unless, in this case, the price was right. So my humble little collection is shaping up pretty well and looking very handsome! I'll be proud to pass this on to my Daughter or Grand kids. After all it's just a hobby so may as well do it up the best I can!

I can not make out if all the perfs are sound because of the black background - (always better to scan used on a light backround when offered to be sold as used to show perfs) of course you may not have scanned this item yourself.

Personally I prefer a cds where Date and town are visible as this one. Getting nice centering you would probably would have paid much more.

linking this stamp to the historic past of America could well enthrall your grandchildren as would any of the early stamps, I suppose of any Country.

I always scan against black background but your correct, I did not scan these yet. Sellers images.

I finally got around to scan mine. Its pretty well centered but has a crease/fold through the middle. :( Also I scanned the whole page so everyone can enjoy. Please do give me any slack about not being in mounts. I am slowing putting all my classic US stamps in mounts, as money allows. Thanks

Ha ha... You slacker. Your further ahead than I am! Maybe I can hook you up with one w/o a crease? We'll see as I haven't got them yet.

That is a good starter lot, thanks for showing.
Most have very good perforations. To improve I would look for better cancellations and better centered ones, as the occasion may arise.
I do realize though your piority is to get the spaces filled and that is always costly with the top stamp in the set.

    Keep going ;)
