machins, what is that? I also was not looking for that one, or was I? I am confused:confused:

the stamp shown is not the one we were looking for but that was the first stamp in the set, the souvinir sheet was the one i posted above, and there was no image on scotts for the sheet lol

Machins are GB stamps where you only see the Queens head and value, i will pull up some detail on them and start on a new thread

    Hi Tom,

This 1d stamp is not Scott 88 but 89 - enlarge the stamp and count the full dots in the top corner, it is SG 174 though.

This is the problem of getting wrong information in detailed descriptions.

Collecting Plates would probably entail collecting the corner blocks of 4 in which the Plate numbers would be in the margin.

Under normal circumstances only one run is made of a stamp, though there may be 3, 4 or six sheets per print, each with a plate number not to be confused with sheet numbers which was a process of the past.

Two printing firms were used and this may have resulted in two plates.

My guess is the same plate was used by both printers, were one for some reason printed an additional volume.

One had a little darker gray but the other two were the same. Which by what you are saying there most likely only 2 not three plates. Thank you for the information

Steve you sent me the dvd a while back, thanks. I was talking about the album that I put my stamps in. It doesnt have the Channel Island pages.
