Here is my small collection of Confederate stamps that I have collected over the years. Please share any pics you might have of your Confederate stamps. Thanks.
Love that #8... I have never seen the actual stamp, just the black and white rendering in the album hole. Looks much better than the rendering. They used the same portrait of Jackson for that stamp as the Union's Blackjack.
I only have 2... Both are pretty rough. I believe one is an 11, and the other looks almost the same, but I haven't studied it to see if it's 11 or 12. I think that since I am not interested in filling this set, I might just strive to get a #8, and mount it on the same page as it's Union counterpart. I did that with my revenues... I decided not to collect them, but I had some "IR" overprints on postage, so I mounted them on the page next to the non-overprint postage versions. Just for giggles, and to save me having all the extra album pages that go with the revenues.
All the ones that you see, were bought in different collections that I have sorted. One here, one there, and now I have five of them. lol
Man I love that "Red-Jack". I been trying to track one down for several months now. Just the asking price for most is just ridiculous and usually WAAAAAY over cat. value for some reason?? Great C.S.A. stamps you have there! Here is a neat link about them (Although I believe the host is most likely a southern sympathizer) This site shows how to properly ID the authentic ones from all the re-issues, fantasy, fakes and forgeries. ENJOY! http://www.jlkstamps.com/fakes/fakecsa.htm#fantasy
I have since showed my red jack(s) on this forum and I agree that they are a stunning issue as is the Washington the confederacy used too I believe its scott #13.
Nice block you have there Jeff. Its a Scott#8 issued in April 1863. Printed by Archer & Daly of Richmond, VA. Current Value for a block of 4 mint, $350.
